Belly Full of Anger, Part 3

Went back to Brooklyn today and filmed in the Botanic Garden for a bit. I changed in the restroom of the Visitors Center. Andre and crew got yelled at by the "Head" of security. He said changing into costumes was not allowed in the restrooms. Huh??? Oh well. We did a lot more Kung Fu fighting today. There was a lot of rolling around on grass, falling, kicks, etc. Not sure how it will look, as I profess to not really knowing any Kung Fu. Got to play with fake blood today as well. However, there was really nothing to wipe the blood off with, so I stuck my hands in some snow. Yowsa it was cold! Plus, I left behind a bunch of bloody snow. :)

On our way to our next location (interior shot, thank God!) We got rear ended by another car. Flash backwards to several hours later with Andre on the BQE bragging about how he has never been in a car accident in his life.

Everyone was ok, just a bit sore. Andre was probably the worst of it. I was ok. I guess all the Kung Fu training toughened me up :)

As always, we ended up with some crazy stills from filming. Here are some pics.

I will narrate this time....

This is me and John right before we meet the "Old Man"

This is John poking the old man's eyes out. The old man was played by an actor named Doua. He was really expressive and a very good sport (we put blood on his eyes, ala Oedipus Rex)

This is me getting hit (again)

This is me going crazy with scurvy. It will all make sense someday.

This is our Brokeback moment. No other words can describe it.

John at the top of some steps at the Botanic Garden. I took this with my Treo!

Cast and Crew photo. Back to Astoria!

An interior scene at a Pizza place in Astoria. I had to stuff my mouth with garlic bread, which was a stand in for Brittle cake.

Here's a closeup shot of me enjoying the garlic bread, ummm I mean the brittle cake. Not sure why I am so green in this shot. Perhaps it was the high content of garlic.

That's it. More later.

Belly Full of Anger, Part 2

Did some more filming over the weekend - some close ups back at the Brookyln Botanic Garden. It was COLD! My hands and face were numb, but we got some good shots. Got to film a sequence where I repeatedly get slapped like 50 times. I also got to do a spit take. Yes! My advanced theatre training put to good use :)

Sunday we filmed on Kristen's rooftop, which was pretty funny. Chris, one of the writers also plays a bad guy named Mordeci. There a scene where he get's thrown off the roof, so he had to go down and sprawl his body out on the sidewalk while Andre shot him from above on the rooftop. At one point, a pedestrian walked by while we were filming Chris, and just looked at him and asked if he was ok.

We finished our shoot at Astoria Park, where I go running sometimes. It was pretty surreal because I used to run down to the park, look at the Manhattan skyline and think how cool it would be to be film down here. Never would I imagine I would actually be doing just that a year later and especially in a Kung Fu moive. John and I have some pretty good chemistry. We're always cracking each other up (and ruining some takes).

We ended the day rolling down a hill towards the camera, getting stabbed by twigs and brown spurs along the way. We definitely entertained the onlookers. Good fun. Can't wait to see some footage soon.

One Eyed Jimmy

It seemed like a typical Friday afternoon at work for me. Pretty laid back. Not too much excitement.

So this afternoon in the men's restroom, my coworker Alvin asked what I was doing this weekend. I told him I would be filming. My boss, Bill Bloom was standing beside me at the next urinal (unbeknownst to me) informs me that he used to score films.

I did a double take.

He said he did the music score for a movie called Search For One Eyed Jimmy.

I did another double take.

I honestly never imagined anyone, let alone my boss saying "One Eyed Jimmy" to me in the men's restroom.

So I got online and lo and behold on IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117577/fullcredits) is Bill's name (William Bloom)

He even sang the song as well. Here's his website where you can listen to "One Eyed Jimmy"

Just another typical Friday for me :)

Have a great weekend
